Every guest must carry an original South African ID or a physical passport to enter the Witzands Aquifer Nature Reserve. Digital copies or photos of your ID are not accepted, and arriving without one means you'll be turned away at the gate with no refund.
No. The Witzands conservation permit (R250 per person) is compulsory for everyone entering the reserve and is paid separately from your tour fee, at the gate. We list it up front on every activity page so there are no surprise costs on the day.
Riders must be at least 16 years old to drive a quad bike on our tours. Children aged 4–12 can join as a ride-along passenger on a two-seater bike with a guide or parent, and children under 4 cannot enter the reserve. Riders are limited to a maximum weight of 140kg.
No, alcohol is not permitted anywhere in the reserve, before or during your ride, and riders under the influence will not be allowed to ride. You're welcome to bring water or a non-alcoholic drink to stay hydrated.
We offer three riding times at Atlantis Dunes: 30 minutes (R550pp), 45 minutes (R750pp), and 60 minutes (R900pp). All three include a safety briefing, practice run, helmet and gear, and an experienced guide — the conservation permit (R250pp) is billed separately.
No prior experience is required. Every tour starts with a full safety briefing and a practice run on flat ground, and our professional, highly experienced guides lead the whole ride.
Bring your original South African ID or passport, closed-toe shoes, sunblock and sunglasses, water or a non-alcoholic drink, and cash or card for the R250pp conservation permit payable at the gate.
Witzands is a protected nature reserve that's home to rare fynbos found only in the Cape Floristic Region. Staying on marked trails protects this environment — littering or disturbing plants and wildlife can result in immediate expulsion from the reserve.
